HCT Group employee wins Inspirational Trainer Award

Malcolm Crichard, Standards Coordinator at HCT Group’s Learning Centre, received the Inspirational Trainer Award last night at Transport for London's (TfL's) annual London Bus Awards.
The Inspirational Trainer Award pays tribute to someone who has inspired others with their training. It could be someone who has encouraged others to pursue a career or someone who has inspired colleagues to be successful at delivering excellence and showing pride in their work.
In addition to his responsibility for the educational standards of our transport programmes, Malcolm also delivers programmes aimed at long term unemployed people, preparing them for careers in the transport industry. These programmes have a real impact far beyond regular training – supporting learners with job skills, interview techniques and confidence building to help them into employment. Malcolm’s impact with these learners is genuinely transformative, supporting around 250 long-term unemployed people a year.
Lawrence Wilson, Director of London for HCT Group said “We are really pleased that Malcolm has won this award. I have conducted observations on many training days in my career, but on my first session with Malcolm in charge I was blown away. I was overwhelmed by his ability to bring to life even the dullest of topics.”
Kahing Mak, a bus driver on route W19 based at Walthamstow Avenue, was highly commended in the category for outstanding customer service. “I would like to congratulate Kahing for his hard work and dedication. Kahing has a track record of consistent excellence and has had 15 commendations in the 18 months he’s been with HCT Group”, said Lawrence.
